Microneedling

Microneedling also known as "Collagen Induction Therapy" is a treatment used to re-build the skin's collagen and elastin. 

MicroNeedling is a minimally invasive anti ageing skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging. It is performed with a small hand held device that makes tiny controlled punctures called micro-wounds, or channels. These micro-channels stimulate the process to produce new collagen and elastin. How is the treatment performed?

Our medically trained Aesthetician will cleanse your skin using a gentle cleanser by Skinceuticals and apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area for enhanced comfort if the client chooses. After approximately 30 minutes, we will thoroughly clean off all of the numbing agent and then you are ready for the procedure to begin. Next, Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 is applied to your skin, this allows the needling device to easily glide over your skin, and push the product deep into the skin. Each section of the face will be treated. Following your MicroNeedling treatment an SPF will be applied to the skin.

When will I see results from MicroNeedling? 

Approximately 48 to 72 hours after the treatment you will have an increase in collagen production. However, the natural repair process of the skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. Collagen building takes place over time, and it will continue to improve for up to 6 months after final treatment. The new collagen will last for several years, which is why microneedling treatment is considered a very long lasting treatment.  

What is the down time after a MicroNeedling treatment? 

Recovery after this treatment depends on the length and density of the needles used. The skin will be pink or red in appearance for 24 hours, much like a mild sunburn. The skin may feel warm, tight and itchy for a short while. Generally the inflammation reaction of the skin is overall usually short and fades significantly after a couple of days on average. Patients with a more sensitive skin type or older clients may take upwards to 5 days.

Who should try microneedling?

Anyone looking to improve the appearance of their skin, prevent signs of aging, treat pigmentation or wrinkles, fade acne scars or stretch marks. However, there are limits—it only works for scars and wrinkles that are on the superficial side, if you have something really deep, this may not be the correct treatment for you. 

What should I avoid prior to treatment?

• No Retin-A products 3 days prior to your treatment.
• No prolonged sun exposure to the face prior to your treatment. A Micro-Needling treatment will not be performed on sunburned skin.
• If an active or extreme breakout occurs before treatment, please consult with Briana to reschedule 

What are some contraindications of MicroNeedling?

• History of cold sores
• Use of anticoagulants
• Keloid scarring
• Infection (fungal or other)
• Presence of warts, solar lentigines, solar keratosis, skin cancer
• Chemotherapy
• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Active Acne
